The Progressive Era "Acts"

6. New Federal Agencies:
Women's bureau,1920 & Children's Bureau 1912:
Through those two nez federal agencies female activists agitated. Those gave female reformers a national stage for social investigation and advocacy.


Federal Trade Commission, 1914:
The Federal Trade Commision Act empowered a presidentially appointed commission to turn a searchlight on industries angaged in interstate commerce, such as the meatpackers.The commissioners should crush monopoly at the source by rooting out unfair trade practices, including unlawful competition, false advertising, mislabeling, adulteration and bribery.


Federal Reserve,1913:
This was the most important piece of economic legislation between the Civil War and the New Deal. The new Federal Reserve Board apponted by president, oversaw a nationwide system of twelve regional reserve districts, each with its own central bank.


Federal Farm Loan Act, 1916:
This Act made credit available to farmers at low rates of interest- as long demanded by populists.
